1st International Brachypodium Conference
19 - 21 June 2013, Modena, Italy
University of Modena and Reggio Emilia
Complesso San Geminiano
Brachypodium distachyon is a widely recognized model plant, and the first species of the grass subfamily Pooideae with a sequenced genome. Due to its amenability to experimental manipulation and compact genome, Brachypodium is playing an increasingly important role in grass structural and functional genomics. With extensive genetic and genomic tools now in place, Brachypodium research is moving forward rapidly. Significant projects underway include surveys of natural diversity at both the phenotypic and genomic level, studies of biotic and abiotic stress responses, and numerous studies aimed at improving grasses for biofuel production. Efforts are also underway to increase the number of sequence-indexed mutant lines. The 1st International Brachypodium Conference is the successor to the 1st European Brachypodium Workshop held in Versailles (France) in 2011.
The aim of the Conference is to bring together the global Brachypodium community to provide reports, discuss recent achievements in Brachypodium research and plan future developments and collaborations. The workshop will be limited to 200 attendees.
